A-VIEW 2.0 will be released by next week 07-December, 2011
To run A-VIEW seamlessly, the ports for web server, LCDS, MySQL and RTMP for FMS have to be open
Shri Ramesh Guntha, Development Manager of the Amrita E-Learning Research Lab headquartered at Amritapuri, Kollam announced that robust e-learning software - A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World) will be released by next week of December. He was interacting with the Universities from different parts of the country as part of weekly discussions through A-VIEW envisaged by MHRD under NME-ICT mission on December 7, 2011.
While briefing about new features, he said Master administrator i.e. Amrita University controls the database and can have access to all institutes data created in the database.
A master administrator can;
- Create Institutes and allot institute level administrator and server accordingly
- Creates Courses, Classes, Lectures, Users
- Do Class registration
Answering to a question raised by U. V. Patel College of Engineering, Shri Guntha said there is no option to upload a video presentation using a college’s server using A-VIEW. Presentations can only be uploaded if a college conducts an online course through A-VIEW.
Meanwhile, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University asked whether A-VIEW 1.5 version can be upgraded automatically. Shri Guntha pointed out that present version doesn’t have Auto Update functionality. Hence installation of the latest version should be done manually.
Around 13 Universities including Central University of Karnataka, Chitkara University, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Periyar Maniammai University, National Institute of Technology Warangal, IIT Madras, Karnataka State Law University participated.
A-VIEW is an E-Learning platform, developed by Amrita University's E-Learning Research Lab, which is state-of-the-art software for distance education and collaboration. It is available for free to all the educational institutes across India, and can be downloaded from website address, www.aview.in or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
