Infosys, one of the largest IT Company in Business Consulting, Technology, Engineering and Outsourcing services led the weekly session of Online Gurukul on 25th September, 2012.
Shri Harshoday Singh Gour, Lead - Professional Skills Development, Infosys Limited, Trivandrum Development Centre was the chief guest. The topic of the session was – Are you 100% employable?
What is Personality?
Shri Harsh explained “Personality is an in-depth concept of beyond perception and beyond thought. It’s not about physical grooming; it is all about analytical ability or making the creative problem solving ability which defines your personality.”
Soft skills and Hard skills
Shri Harsh underlined that soft skill is the spine of the survival in the corporate world. “In simple words, soft skills mean how you showcase what you know. While hard skills indicate what you know,” he said.
Answering to a question, Shri Harsh said “Soft skills are the steps of the ladder towards corporate leadership. Soft skill is very important, sometimes more than the hard skills.”
Once you refine your soft skills and hard skills, you should apply those skills in life. And, give thrust to following things:
- Relearn etiquette
- Polish language
- Trim your confidence
- Sharpen your personality and attitude
Spokesperson of St. Dominic’s College, Kanjirapally, Kottayam said it was a great opportunity for students as well as faculties. “The session was really informative. This program (Online Gurukul) is a good initiative as it gives students a rare opportunity to interact with renowned scholars absolutely free.”
He added that this program would help to educate students as well as teachers about the importance of ICT in education. “We are eager to attend next sessions also.”
The goal of Online Gurukul is to assist and empower needy students. The classes are being transmitted through Amrita University's award winning E-Learning platform - A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World).
