Aview - Video Conferencing Tool

A-VIEW Workshop at FISAT 16 November, 2011

Angamaly: Amrita E-Learning Research Lab (AERL), Kollam conducted a one day workshop and hands on training on e-learning tool A-VIEW at Department of Computer Science, Federal Institute of Science And Technology, (FISAT), Angamaly on 16th November 2012.

The deployment team, AERL led the workshop. Dr. K. S. M. Panicker, Principal, FISAT inauguratedthe event. Sixty participants from professional colleges and schools all over South India attended the workshop.

A-VIEW is an interactive multimedia e-learning platform used for conducting large live distance education classes by enabling teachers to reach out to multiple remote classes and participants using the internet. This software was used to train 10,000 teachers from all over India digitally in July 2012 in collaboration with IIT Bombay. A-VIEW was also used for the launch of Aakash 2 tablet by the president of India on 11th November 2012 at Vighyan Bhavan, New Delhi. More than 14,000 teachers and students across 240 remote centers attended this mega event live using A-VIEW.

A-VIEW won the jury award for the Best Innovation in Open and Distance Learning under Higher Education category in the World Education Summit held at New Delhi in 2011. In June 2012, the Computer World Magazine (USA) recognized Amrita E-Learning Research Lab with Computer World Honors Laureate 2012 for developing A-VIEW under the Training and Education category. A-VIEW also received the educational excellence award in the field of educational technology at the Indo-Global educational summit held at Hyderabad in September 2012.

A-VIEW is available free of cost to all higher educational institutions and is currently deployed at more than 1500 higher educational institutions across India. A-VIEW will be deployed at most universities and colleges by the end of next year.
