Shri Ramesh Guntha, Development Manager, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab, Amritapuri was the chief guest in the National Weekly Discussions through A-VIEW envisaged by MHRD under NME-ICT mission on April 4, 2012.

The topic of the session was A-VIEW Features and Implementation Overview Part-2.

Shri Ramesh gave a detailed lecture about the A-VIEW’s latest version - A-VIEW 3.0

What’s GCLM?

On the occasion, Software Quality Manager Ms. Kandhimathy Swarnam gave a demo on GCLM (Global Control Local Management).

“Using GCLM feature, Amrita University controls the central database and helps to connect all the colleges / educational institutes of India over a private network. “It provides opportunity to have an own database for any institute,” she added.

Advantages

While speaking on How to work as Institute Admin through GCLM, Ms. Swarnam said Institute admin has the privilege to create Courses, Classes, Lectures and Users for their institution as well as for Child Institutes (Institutes which are affiliated to the main University).

Answering to a question, she said any number of students can be created under Institute Admin based on bandwidth available.

Around 18 institutes including State Resource Centre Hyderabad, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, International Institute of Population Studies, Indian Naval Academy, Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Sir Padampat Singhania University, Himalaya Institute of Medical Sciences, PSGR Krishnamal College for Women, Kakatiya University and Dibrugarh University attended the online interaction.

A-VIEW is an E-Learning platform, developed by Amrita University's E-Learning Research Lab, which is a state-of-the-art software for distance education and collaboration.
