Heralding a new era in higher education sector, the pilot session of Online Gurukul, an online initiative by Amrita E-Learning Research Lab was conducted successfully on November 28, 2011. Mr. Sunil D Kuruvilla, eminent career expert, was the chief guest of the day.

While delivering the inaugural speech, Mr. Sunil said goal setting is the key to success. “Goals help you to concentrate your energy and resource in a specific direction. And, the quest to achieve goal, makes you motivated and determined. Therefore it helps you to stay afloat in the race,” he said. He recollected renowned clinical psychologist Fitzhugh Dodson’s famous quote “Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.”

Develop ‘right’ vision

Mr. Sunil, founder director of Insight Mission, stressed that after setting your goal, try to develop right attitude, right skill and right knowledge. “He who gives his best today will be better tomorrow,” he added.

What is job and career?

Answering to a question raised by Chief Officer of NSS College Nemmara Career Guidance Cell Dr. Vinayakan, Mr. Sunil answered that there is a huge difference between job and career. “A job is something you do simply to earn money, while career provides experience and learning to fuel your future. For example, a person who has a career considers his employment as a ladder to success. And, he is eager to be at the top in his profession.”
