Learning by Doing: Prof. Sandhya Kode in weekly interaction 20 June, 2012
An interactive session with Prof. Sandhya Kode, Chief Mentor and Director - EnhanceEdu, IIIT Hyderabad was organized as part of the National Weekly Discussion through A-VIEW envisaged by MHRD under NME-ICT mission on June 20, 2012.
The topic of the session was Learning by Doing - Bridging the gap between industry and academia.
LbD: Ideal technique for students
While addressing the participants, Prof. Sandhya Kode stressed that Learning by Doing (LbD) equips a student to learn the subjects well and to get better employment.
Prof. Sandhya said the gap between industry and academia can be bridged by bringing changes in;
- Content: Implement Learning by Doing methodology
- Pedagogy: From teacher centric to student centric
- Evaluation : Formative and summative evaluation
EnhanceEdu, outreach education division of IIIT Hyderabad, was established in 2008. It works towards empowering individuals and communities by enhancing the quality of education
She explained "A great way to learn something is to do it."
"We are developing course content in Computer Science and Electrical and Electronics Engineering based on Learning by Doing methodology," she added.
Around 38 Universities including Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Bapatla Engineering College, Aditya Institute of Technology and Management, Eswar College Of Engineering, Gudlavalleru Engineering College, Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering and Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management participated.
A-VIEW is an E-Learning platform, developed by Amrita University's E-Learning Research Lab, which is a state-of-the-art software for distance education and collaboration.
