Optimum use of Connectivity Infrastructure 16 August, 2012
As part of the National Weekly Discussion Program through A-VIEW, Shri N. K. Sinha, Additional Secretary, MHRD, interacted with University Vice Chancellors on 16th of August, 2012.
Utilisation of Bandwidth
During his talk, Shri Sinha focused on the availability and usage of high bandwidth network made available to universities using connectivity infrastructure. “We need to enhance the usage of the infrastructure that has got created.” – Shri Sinha mentioned.
He urged all universities to use at least 100Mbps bandwidth throughout the day. The universities can make optimal use of the internet and intranet at their campuses for this purpose.
Contribution to the network
Besides the usage of internet, Shri Sinha also touched upon contributing to the internet. He requested the VCs to identify great teachers at their universities and enable them to take national level classes through A-VIEW. In addition, he encouraged them to use resources such as NPTEL and N-LIST programmes over the National Knowledge Network in campuses to instill a culture of research and higher learning.
A-VIEW is an E-Learning platform, developed by Amrita University's E-Learning Research Lab, which is a state-of-the-art software for distance education and collaboration.
