Boost Vocational Education
In his keynote address, Shri Pitroda stressed that Vocational Education should get more prominence in curriculum. “By bolstering Vocational Education, poverty and unemployment can be alleviated. In many ways, lack of skilled professionals is adversely affecting our country’s development. In order to groom a pool of experts, creative modification in education system is imperative,” Shri Pitroda said. He was interacting with the Amrita students at Amrita University’s various campuses (Kochi, Kollam, Coimbatore, Bangalore and Mysore) from his New Delhi office.
Meanwhile Shri Pitroda added that Vocational Education in Kerala should be strengthened with the support of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Failure: a part of growth
Answering to a question, Shri Pitroda said students should accept failure as a part of growing and it would gradually lead to success. “Plenty of opportunities are available for youngsters. However, most of them are not utilizing it well. Instead of fearing about failures, youngsters should show the courage to take up the challenges and think how they can be resolved.”
He added that Rs 30 to 40 crore is being spent on laying optical fibre for various purposes, including education and teaching through mobile phones.
Shri Pitroda concluded his speech by saying “If each builds oneself with confidence, the nation will build by itself.”
