Training workshop for Deployment Engineers
To equip the Deployment Engineers to deliver A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World) ushered with quality service and quality delivery, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab conducted an interactive workshop for E-Learning Deployment Engineers. The workshop was held at Amrita School of Engineering Campus, Amritapuri, Kollam on November 12 and 13th, 2011.
The key highlights of the programme were training on soft skills, time management and stress management and quiz on A-VIEW. About 18 Deployment Engineers and other relevant personnel from different parts of the country and remote centers' (New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore) participated.
Inaugurating the workshop, director of Amrita E-Learning Research Lab Prof. Kamal Bijlani said A-VIEW plays a crucial role to make MHRD's (Ministry of Human Resource Development) NME-ICT mission (National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology) a huge success. "The mission of MHRD is to install A-VIEW in 600 Universities and 20,000 colleges, under NME-ICT project, in the country. To achieve that goal, as a team, we should offer better service and should ensure quality delivery," he emphasized.
Prof. Bijlani highlighted that every employee in the Lab should realize that they are part of a National mission to educate all. "It's a great honour and we should be proud of that."
Shri Krish Gopalasamy, Associate Director, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab said soft skills play a vital role for professional success. "Positive attitude, motivation, interpersonal skills, team spirit, time management and the passion to learn and get trained will help one to excel in his profession."
Renowned Six Sigma expert Dr. Sriram Devanathan said any goal can be achieved through effective team work. "The word team actually gives us a good message i.e. Together Everyone can Achieve More."
Shri Praveen Bist, Head, Corporate Communications gave a detailed lecture on upcoming features in A-VIEW Classroom 2.0 version. "We have developed a dozen of new features in the new version for accessing A-VIEW easily. Auto Updates, Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Firewall 7 Proxy Setup, Pre/Self Testing and Global Control Local Management (GCLM) are the main functionalities," he explained.
Senior Deployment Engineers Shri Varghese and Ms. Kandhimathy Swaranam presented the technical sessions.
Earlier, the first day, was kicked off with an introductory session about A-VEW, hands-on training on features, problems encountered, FAQs, and how to install A-VIEW. The emphasis on the second day, was --- scheduling, classroom arrangements, teacher availability, teacher preparedness, logistics requirements, and understanding the expectations of a teacher or meeting coordinator. It was followed by a quiz on A-VIEW. Also, video tutorials on A-VIEW, How to download A-VIEW and How to use A-VIEW were shown to participants.
Prof. Kamal Bijlani presented certificates to the Engineers whom successfully passed the training. The two-day session was concluded by screening a video footage by Her Holiness Sri Mata Amritanandamayi, Chancellor of Amrita University about the importance of being humble in learning delivered on 'Vijayadasami' day.
A-VIEW is an E-Learning platform, developed by Amrita University's E-Learning Research Lab, which is state-of-the-art software for distance education and collaboration.
