Marking Scheme

Negative marking is an important consideration for candidates taking the UPSC CDS Exam. Each question in the exam will have four options, of which only one is correct. If a candidate selects an incorrect option, 1/3 of the marks allocated to that question will be deducted. Additionally, if a candidate selects more than one option, it will be treated as an incorrect response. However, if a candidate chooses not to answer a question, there will be no negative marking.

CDS Syllabus 2023 Marking Scheme

CDS Important Instructions

  • Use black ballpoint pen to write in the answer sheet and provide the necessary details at the top, such as the Centre, subject, test booklet series (in brackets), subject code, and exam roll number.
  • Encode the CDS 2023 booklet series (A, B, C, or D), subject code, and roll number in the circles provided on the answer sheet.
  • If the CDS booklet series is not printed on the test booklet or answer sheet is unnumbered, inform the invigilator and get the test booklet/ answer sheet replaced.
  • Encoding or filling of details, especially roll number and test booklet series code, incorrectly may lead to the rejection of the answer sheet.
  • Before starting the UPSC CDS Exam 2023, check the test booklet for any missing, unprinted, or torn pages or items. If there is an issue, request a complete test booklet of the same series and subject.
  • Do not write anything other than the required information on the CDS answer sheet or test booklet. Do not fold, damage, or put any additional marking over the answer sheet. Writing on the reverse side of the answer sheet is also not allowed.
