IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2023

  • The IBPS PO Prelims Stage consists of three sections with a total duration of one hour.
  • Candidates must achieve the minimum cut-off score for each of the three tests to qualify, as determined by IBPS.
  • The exam includes 100 multiple-choice questions.
  • An adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by IBPS based on requirements, will be shortlisted for the Online Main Examination.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern 2023

  • The IBPS PO Mains Exam will consist of four sections, with an additional separate section for the English Language.
  • Each section will have separate timing, as in the IBPS PO Prelims Exam.
  • The IBPS PO Mains Exam will include a total of 200 multiple-choice questions, and the duration of the test will be three hours.
  • Candidates must pass each test/ section separately.

Induction of Descriptive Test (25 Marks): The IBPS PO Mains Exam includes a descriptive test of 25 marks, which requires candidates to write an essay and a letter. The English Language Paper assesses candidates’ writing skills, and it is mandatory to pass this paper by achieving a minimum cut-off score.

Penalty for Wrong Answers

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has specified that there will be a penalty for incorrect answers in both the online preliminary and online main examinations. If a candidate provides an incorrect answer, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty, resulting in a corrected score. However, if a question is left unanswered, with no response from the candidate, there will be no penalty imposed.

IBPS PO Interview Process 2023

Candidates who are shortlisted in the Online Main examination for CRP- PO/ MT-X will be called for an Interview. The Interview will be conducted by the Participating Organization and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT, with the assistance of IBPS. The interviews will be held at selected centers.

  • The IBPS PO Interview carries a total of 100 marks.
  • The minimum qualifying marks for the interview are 40%(35% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWBD candidates).
  • The weightage ratio of the IBPS PO Online Main Exam and interview is 80:20, respectively.
  • The final combined score of candidates will be based on their scores in the Online Main Exam of CRP- PO/ MT-IX and the interview.
  • Candidates must qualify in both the Online Main Exam and interview and rank high enough on the merit list to be shortlisted for the subsequent provisional allotment process.
