Amrita Presents Vision Session 2030 on Higher Education for Kerala at GEM’16
The Higher Education Department, Govt. of Kerala, FICCI and Kerala State Higher Education Council organized a Global Education Meet ’16 (GEM) on 30th January 2016 at Leela, Kovalam, Trivandrum to explore the international academic collaborations with universities, to develop skill based partnerships in higher education with international skill providers and to design the future "Academic Cities of Kerala".
FICCI Higher Education Vision 2030 released in 2013 has been very well received by the stakeholders and the Central Government. It identified the goals, policy imperatives and implementation roadmap to make higher education boost the growth of India. It is very important to translate this vision into reality and thus, move the focus of execution from the national level to the state level.
Prof. Kamal Bijlani, Director, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab represented Amrita University and during the Panel Discussion delivered an inspiring talk on “FICCI Vision 2030 on Higher Education for Kerala”. Prof. Kamal also serves as the FICCI Higher Education committee member. He suggested A-VIEW, a massive online educational platform developed by Amrita University as the most appropriate solution for the challenges faced by higher education across the country.
The two day conference was very informative and surely could amend the interface of state and central higher education. The concluding session took stock of the deliberations over the two days by the participants and approved a Declaration, encapsulating the decisions and recommendations to the higher education authorities in the state and the Centre.
