The first session of much-awaited A-VIEW 2.0 version (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World), developed by Amrita E-Learning Research Lab, Amritapuri, Kollam kicked off well. The latest version of A-VIEW was exercised in the weekly discussion envisaged by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) on December 22, 2011.
Mr. Ramesh Guntha, Development Manager, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab chaired the session. He welcomed the participants and gave detailed lecture about the new features in A-VIEW 2.0. Answering to a question – Is A-VIEW available in Linux, Shri Ramesh said at present A-VIEW is available only in Windows. “Still, many people prefer Windows as Operating System. In addition to this users can access more features in Windows compared to Linux. A-VIEW will be launched in MAC also soon,” he added.
He urged all the participants (Universities) to participate in the A-VIEW workshop as part of IEEE International Conference on Technology Enhanced Education (ICTEE) at Amritapuri Campus from January 3-5, 2012. “For the comfort of candidates, we are planning to begin online registration. The theme of the IEEE conference is educational technology for societal benefit. Eminent personalities such as Nobel Laureate and founder of the Grameen Bank Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Vasudha Kamat, Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women's University, MS Vijay Kumar, Senior Associate Dean, MIT, CB Fleddermann, Editor- In-Chief, IEEE Transactions are expected to attend the event. Around 15 universities including Karnataka State Law University, Mumbai University participated in the interaction. Spokesperson of National Law University, Orissa, said that the session was very effective. “Audio and video quality were really awesome. We are planning to use A-VIEW extensively in our campus to foster the quality of higher education. We really appreciate MHRD and A-VIEW team for the cooperation.”
A-VIEW is an E-Learning platform, developed by Amrita University's E-Learning Research Lab, which is state-of-the-art software for distance education and collaboration.
